Teaming up with #InclusiveHiring partner FourBlock, Zoom recently hosted a focused 2-hour virtual training session to guide transitioning veterans through job offers and negotiations. Led by Zoom volunteers from Veterans@Zoom and Talent Acquisition, the session offered practical insights and support to those shifting from military to civilian careers, reinforcing Zoom's commitment to inclusive hiring and breaking down barriers for underrepresented talent, particularly transitioning veterans, who may be interested in joining Zoom.
Throughout the session, discussions covered hiring trends, negotiation strategies, and evaluating job offers, showcasing Zoom's dedication to equipping transitioning veterans with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their civilian careers. Memorable interactions occurred during breakout sessions, with participants sharing personal challenges and seeking guidance for their job search, highlighting the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment.
Valerie Massa, a Senior Recruiter at Zoom, shared her enthusiasm after volunteering, stating, "I loved this workshop - it was great learning about veterans' experiences navigating the job market while planning for their military retirement." Gregg Glowinski, a Sr Solutions Engineer, emphasized Zoom's investment in assisting veterans, saying, "This service is highly beneficial for the service members, and I am glad to be a part of it."
Events like this career readiness workshop and the global military skills translator on our Veterans Career Page provide both support to veterans and military spouses and actively empowers veterans to chart their paths to success in the civilian world. To date, 2,000+ military personnel have been matched to a Zoom role using our skills translator powered by Inclusive Hiring partner Oplign.
