About the Team

This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Product Counsel team within Zoom's fast growing legal department. As Product Counsel at Zoom, we help to drive the growth of our business and build and ship the solutions that bring teams and organizations together to get more done in a frictionless and secure video environment. Our easy, reliable, and innovative video-first unified communications platform provides video meetings, voice, webinars, and chat across desktops, phones, mobile devices, and conference room systems. 

About The Role

Zoom is seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Product Counsel to support and partner closely with Zoom’s Online Business team which is the business unit that drives the growth, retention, and activation of Zoom’s online channel customers through programs and products. Additionally, you will:

  • You will  advise the company on  related projects, including product features, growth marketing, and new innovative business models, and should be knowledgeable about general privacy, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards relevant to online platforms. You will regularly collaborate with product teams and other cross-functional, subject matter expert partners.

  • This position will advise on products, features, and business initiatives in plans and pricing, payments, retention, and pilots across numerous jurisdictions and in concert with multiple cross-functional partners.

  • Partner with program and product managers to support a wide variety of growth initiatives from pilots to partnerships and compliance projects. 

  • Draft clear and concise public-facing disclosures, disclaimers, terms of use, and other customer-facing agreements.

  • Provide practical and strategic advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business goals and initiatives.

  • Regularly partner with a broad range of cross-functional partners to coordinate support and alignment on the entire program and product life cycle.

  • Provide over the horizon advice to the business unit on evolving U.S. and international laws and regulations related to Zoom’s online business.

About You

  • You have 8+ plus years of relevant experience, including in-house experience with SaaS, UCaaS, or other technology companies and/or relevant work at a major law firm.

  • You have a J.D. degree with membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

  • You have experience with SaaS technology and the legal issues we regularly face – such as privacy and data protection, content regulation, intellectual property, advertising, and consumer protection – and a willingness to learn about the rest along with entirely new areas of law.

  • You have experience working in a product counsel role building and supporting online, e-commerce products.

  • You have outstanding judgment and strategic thinking skills.

  • Ability to lead without authority among stakeholders and strong relations at all levels and across the organization.

  • You are Passionate about Zoom and have a deep appreciation of Zoom’s mission and impact.

Zoom is aware of scams that involve fake Zoom job listings posted on third-party sites. Responding applicants are contacted primarily over email, InMail and/or chat applications by people impersonating Zoom employees. Eventually a fake offer letter is sent in exchange for personal identification information as part of a fake new-hire screening process.
