Zoom is hiring a Senior Commercial Counsel (Channel/Manager) to join our dynamic and fast growing legal team. This role is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for technology, excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment. The primary responsibility of the role is to advise on issues involving Channel sales programs pertaining to Zoom Phone and draft, review, and negotiate associated agreements. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills as they will be interfacing with cross-functional teams and external Channel partners, carriers and customers. This position will report to the Senior Managing Commercial Counsel - Channel and can be based anywhere in the US (eastern and central time zones preferred).

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of attorneys (2 attorneys to start) with an emphasis on Zoom Phone initiatives including contract drafting and negotiation, management of deal flow, daily operations and training for team growth and continued success.
  • Provide practical and business-minded legal advice to stakeholders.
  • Continue to learn and calibrate in the rapidly changing UcaaS industry and serve as an internal subject matter authority on Zoom Phone commercial legal issues.
  • Anticipate client needs to facilitate the creation and improvement of processes, forms, templates, knowledge resources, and training to drive efficiency.
  • Assist with the drafting, review, and negotiation of partner-related agreements including distribution, reseller, referral, agency, strategic alliance, carrier and other types of partner and sales agreements worldwide as well as documentation needed to support channel sales and operations with a focus on Zoom Phone needs.
  • Provide legal support to the Zoom Phone channel organization and leadership worldwide.
  • Work directly with business stakeholders as a strategic adviser to provide practical legal advice on a broad range of complex legal and business issues pertaining to Zoom Phone.
  • Partner with revenue recognition/finance, privacy, security, sales operations, and other stakeholder teams to ensure agreements and documentation are consistent with internal company policies and processes.
  • Drive and contribute to a variety of ad-hoc projects across the department supporting business, legal, and strategic corporate initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in a high-growth SaaS environment negotiating and drafting enterprise-level cloud agreements and partner/channel agreements.
    • 5+ years of in-house experience preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience supporting a channel sales team preferred.
    • 2+ years experience managing lawyers or legal staff, ideally in a remote and geographically dispersed setting.
  • Significant experience with the telecommunications sector/telecom carriers required.
  • Tech savvy with ability to complete projects quickly, independently and with minimal supervision (though you will always have the support you need).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills and a strong ability to prioritize workload.
  • Creative problem solving capabilities, good business instincts and the ability to apply common sense to both practical and theoretical advice
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition issues and experience working with revenue and sales operations teams.
  • Strong academic background, J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission.
  • Highly responsive with a service-oriented attitude.
  • Team player with a great sense of humor.
  • Excellent leadership and mentorship talents, with a strong sense of integrity and ethics.
  • Ability to provide thought leadership on strategic matters as well as execute on tactical operational details.
  • The ideal candidate will have a background in the negotiation and drafting of technology and other transactions, including experience supporting B2B sales teams throughout the contract negotiation lifecycle with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Spanish language skills appreciated but not required

Colorado Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum:

$145,260.00 USD

Maximum :

$268,740.00 USD

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed, Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration base salary, bonus and equity value.  Information about Zoom’s benefits is hereNote: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.  We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
