About the Team
The Zoom for Government (ZfG) team is looking for a dynamic leader that can help to shape the future of the ZfG organization. The Head of ZfG will be part of a dynamic team that is laser focused on automation, we believe that if you are doing it twice, it better be automated. The Head of ZfG will be specifically responsible for building a team structure that will help to foster growth and operational excellence.
About the Role
You will be responsible for managing the ZfG CloudOps, DevOps, and Systems Administration teams to achieve business objectives. You will manage the operations of the SaaS platform running in AWS, and ensure that our team is leveraging bleeding edge technologies, container-hosted microservices, and real-time data processing. You will work closely with other teams to ensure the attainment of targets for service levels, resolution time, and project deadlines. Responsibilities include;
Set team goals in alignment with Infrastructure Operations delivery objectives. Assist direct reports in the definition and attainment of individual goals.Ensure that direct reports have the resources, information, and processes necessary to deliver a highly available and resilient SaaS platform.
Lead tactical response to system errors, outages, and failures within the platform.
Conduct post-mortem RCA reviews and implement changes as a result of findings.
Effectively represent the ZfG Ops team on cross-organizational teams to deliver on organizational objectives.
Manage workflows and schedules for direct reports and ensure adequate workload coverage, including on-call support.
Deliver regular reports that provide qualitative and quantitative descriptions of platform performance including uptime, SLA attainment, and error rates.
Manage, define, and own key processes related to the operations of the SaaS platform.
Develop and maintain operational procedures and policies consistent with compliance and security practices.
Participate in architectural governance in partnership with other architects and directors within Engineering to ensure we will make necessary investments to ensure a highly available and resilient SaaS platform.
Serve as a manager, mentor, knowledge resource, and escalation point for employees; Build credibility and trust within the team.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or similar field.) or equivalent on the job experience
US Citizenship required
Candidates must possess excellent team and people skills and should be comfortable working in geographically dispersed teams
Experience in building Fedramp Moderate environments as well as Fedramp High.
Experience leading an engineering operations team in a SaaS and a highly regulated environment
10+ years of experience in release management
10+ years experience of working in large, complex deployment environments
MBA or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or related discipline.
10+ years working in a Delivery or Operations team
10+ years of demonstrable experience in Linux systems administration such as Red Hat or Red Hat clones. Certifications are preferred but not mandatory
10+ years of industry experience in an operations/engineering support role in a 24/7/365 environment
Expert experience in AWS services. EC2, VPC, DynamoDB, Route53, Elasticache. Certifications are preferred but not mandatory
Deployment automation scripting experience (Bash/Python/etc., we use Python)
Expert understanding of IP networks especially troubleshooting layer 1, 2, and 3 issues
Hands-on experience with Salt, Puppet, Chef, Cobbler, and Ansible (we use Ansible)
Solid understanding of git flows, yum(dnf)/rpm management
Working knowledge of key database technologies such as MySql, MongoDB, or Cassandra
Working knowledge of networking, switches, and routers
Experience with virtualization/container technologies such as VMWare, Xen, Docker, Kubernetes, and KVM
Salary Range or On Target Earnings:
In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
