Data Engineer: Zoom for Government

Our Zoom for government team is looking to add a Data Engineer to the team. In this role, you will work in a variety of settings to build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for the business to interpret. Their ultimate goal is to make data accessible so that organizations can use it to evaluate and optimize their performance

What you'll do:

  • Designs, builds and oversees the deployment, operation and scale of data pipelines, software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources.

  • Establishes and builds processes and structures based on business and technical requirements to channel data from multiple inputs, route appropriately and store using any combination of distributed (cloud) structures, local databases, and other applicable storage forms as required.

  • Develops technical tools and programming that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize and transform data and to maintain, defend and update data structures and integrity on an automated basis.

  • Creates and establishes design standards and assurance processes for software, systems and applications development to ensure compatibility and operability of data connections, flows and storage requirements.

  • Improve existing data processes and infrastructure by pioneering the adoption of new technologies within Zoom.

  • Collaborate with data driven stakeholders to understand  data needs, usage and  access requirements

  • Assist with ad-hoc data requests to answer questions from operations team and senior management

  • Design solutions that integrate customer data into a seamless ecosystem with data privacy, compliance and security best practices in mind.

What you'll have:

  • Must be a US citizen (government compliance reason)

  • Having broad expertise or unique knowledge uses skills to contribute to the development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

  • Barriers to entry such as technical committee review exist at this level.

  • Significant prior experience in designing and building highly scalable and reliable data pipelines using BigData services (EMR, Python, Airflow, Redshift/Snowflake).

  • Software development experience with proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or other languages.

  • Experience with Source Code Management tools (Git, Gitlab) and an understanding of branching and integration processes.

  • Passionate about data engineering, analytics, distributed systems and solving complex data problems.

  • Prior experience shipping scalable data solutions in the cloud and database technologies such as Redshift, Snowflake, Glue, Athena, SQL/NoSQL, and or columnar databases.

  • Knowledge of ETL, visualization and reporting, with an understanding of the best, most efficient use of associated tools and applications to complete these tasks.

  • Certain experience using analytics platforms such as AWS QuickSight, Tableau, Salesforce.

  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

  • Experience with security and privacy frameworks: PCI/HIPAA/FedRAMP

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor or higher degree.

  • Proficiency in at least one procedural language such as PL/SQL, TSQL etc

  • Good understanding and experience with relational and non-relational datastores such as MySQL, MongoDB, DynmoDB, Redis or Elasticsearch

  • Comfortable with automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible

Zoom is aware of scams that involve fake Zoom job listings posted on third-party sites. Responding applicants are contacted primarily over email, InMail and/or chat applications by people impersonating Zoom employees. Eventually a fake offer letter is sent in exchange for personal identification information as part of a fake new-hire screening process.
