Client Software Engineer,  Security & Cryptography

REMOTE / SECURITY ENGINEERING / FULL-TIME

About the Team

Zoom is hiring software engineers to join our client infrastructure team within Security Engineering. We are building out the client components of the Zoom E2EE system as described in our white paper [1].

 

We'll be developing cryptographic identity distributed across multiple devices and clients that create, consume and process append-only cryptographic data structures like "sigchains" and transparency trees. Candidates should have a love for cryptography, security, a zeal for challenging integrations, and a knack for testing and debugging.

  • This geographically distributed team works on a C++ library which is used by all of Zoom’s client software applications (desktop, mobile, etc)

  • We bring the highest level of security E2EE capabilities to various aspects of the Zoom platform.

  • We primarily collaborate with the E2EE server team, our cryptography design team, and other client engineers.

About the Role

  • Implement networked cryptographic protocols and integrate cryptographic libraries into a large, multiplatform codebase

  • Plan new cryptographic protocols for new applications 

  • Participate in unit and integration testing and develop testing automation 

  • Code review and debug in both development and production environments via limited log feedback 

About You

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field 

  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in programming in a technical industry 

  • Proficiency in a modern compiled systems programming language such as C++, Golang or Rust 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experienced with distributed systems programming 

  • Experience with cryptography and secure programming 

  • Experience with software targeted towards consumers 

  • Meaningful previous internships
